Sean Hughes came to the Stampede midseason in 1999-2000, picked up from the Waco Wizards in the WPHL Dispersal Draft on December 15, 1999. The left wing from Kenora, Ontario brought size and a physical presence to the forward corps, and wasted little time making an impact — he scored a power play goal from Ron Newhook and Aldo Iaquinta during a dominant 8-1 win over Corpus Christi that winter. Hughes turned in his most productive season that year, posting 25 goals, 14 assists, and 39 points in 41 games as Central Texas ran to the Central Division title. He returned for the franchise's final season in 2000-01, contributing a goal against Bossier-Shreveport in the season opener before the club folded after 38 games. His two-season Stampede totals stood at 34 goals and 58 points in 79 games.
