Mike Dick, a center, joined the Stampede as a new face on the 1997-98 roster and went on to play three seasons in Belton. He posted 22 points and 31 PIM in his first year under coach Lee Norwood, then appeared in only 11 games during the 1998-99 season before being traded to Corpus Christi. He returned for the Stampede's best season, 1999-2000, and delivered a career year: 24 goals, 23 assists, and 47 points in 54 games — comfortably the top offensive output among his three campaigns. By early December 1999 he had already reached 13 goals to lead the team, and he contributed a goal and two assists in a 5-1 win over Odessa that November. His 110 games and 71 career points made him one of the steadier contributors of the Stampede's final winning era.
