Josh Boni played center for the Stampede across two seasons, compiling 96 points and 188 penalty minutes in 69 games. In his first year under coach Lee Norwood, he led the team in goals, points, and shooting percentage by mid-season. He carried that production into 1998-99, posting 24 goals and 30 assists for 54 points in 35 games — enough to top the Stampede in all three offensive categories — and earned a spot as the club's lone All-Star representative. In January 1999, during an eight-game stretch, he recorded 18 points, including a seven-point night in a 13-3 win over Waco. The Stampede traded him to Monroe mid-season in exchange for center Darren Dougan.
