Dave Gregory played defense for the Central Texas Stampede in 1996–97, the franchise's inaugural season. The right-shooting defenseman appeared in 16 games, recording 4 assists while accumulating 22 penalty minutes. Gregory was part of the Stampede's first roster as the team won its opening game against Waco on October 16, 1996, and advanced to the inaugural President's Cup Final before falling to El Paso.
