Chad Michalchuk spent two seasons as a left wing for the Central Texas Stampede, arriving from Waco midseason in 1999-2000 and contributing to the best team in franchise history. He posted 25 points and 85 penalty minutes in 25 games that year, helping the Stampede finish 50-17-3 and claim the Central Division title. A knee injury in early March 2000 cut his first Stampede season short. He returned for the 2000-01 campaign, adding 11 more points before the franchise folded after 38 games and he was transferred to Amarillo. Away from the rink, Michalchuk and teammate Frank Soltesz visited Tarver Intermediate School to hand out programs and sign autographs for students in the R.A.T. Club. Over 43 career games with the Stampede, he totaled 36 points and 143 PIM.
