Brian Loney played one season for the Central Texas Stampede, arriving mid-way through the 1998-99 campaign and making an immediate impact at right wing. In 15 games with the club through late December, he had already compiled 30 points — 11 goals and 19 assists — a pace that drew repeated attention from league observers. He earned honorable mention for WPHL Player of the Week honors on two separate occasions: once for posting four goals and three assists in two games, and again a week later for four goals and four assists across four contests.

Loney finished the season with 18 goals, 33 assists, and 51 points in just 25 games, making him one of the Stampede's most productive contributors in what became the franchise's highest-scoring full season at 286 goals. His 43 PIM reflected a physical edge to go alongside his offensive output. The 1998-99 Stampede, coached by Glen Williamson, finished 33-24-12 and reached the playoffs for the third consecutive year, with Loney's late-season arrival helping stabilize the forward group.
