Brad Wingfield skated two seasons as a left wing for the Central Texas Stampede, carving out a role as one of the team's more physical forwards. In the inaugural 1996–97 campaign he appeared in 35 games, posting 8 points and a team-notable 176 penalty minutes as the Stampede reached the first-ever President's Cup Final. His value to the club was underscored at the 1997 WPHL expansion draft, when the Stampede chose to protect him among their core skaters. He returned for the 1997–98 season after arriving from New Mexico, adding 3 points and 43 PIM in 10 games under new head coach Lee Norwood. Over his Stampede career he totaled 219 penalty minutes in just 45 games, reflecting a consistently physical presence on the ice.
